Kantech or UniFi Access?
Kantech is common in Quebec buildings. UniFi Access is newer and licence-free. How to choose, or how to move from one to the other.
| Kantech (EntraPass) | UniFi Access | |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Dedicated controllers and management software | PoE door hubs and a UniFi console |
| Management | Installed software, web access depending on edition | App and browser, remotely |
| Credentials | Cards and fobs | Cards, NFC, phone, PIN, QR code |
| Intercom and cameras | Third-party integrations | UniFi intercom and cameras in the same console |
| Licensing | Depends on software edition | No per-door licence |
When to keep Kantech
If the system works, your controllers are recent and your team knows the software, there’s no rush. We can maintain and extend it.
When to move to UniFi Access
When controllers are ageing, remote management becomes essential, or you want access, intercom and cameras in one app.
What we reuse
Strikes, mag locks, panic bars, door contacts and often part of the cabling stay. We replace readers and controllers door by door.
