Access control for buildings and businesses in Saguenay
Saguenay (Chicoutimi, Jonquière, La Baie) combines heavy industry, institutions, retail and a large rental stock.
Altea installs access control for residential buildings, retail, offices and industrial sites, under an RBQ licence. We mostly work with UniFi Access: no per-door licence, one app for managers, and a log of every opening. We also handle the door hardware (electric strikes, mag locks, panic bars, automatic operators) and parking gates.
What we install in Saguenay
- Card, NFC, phone and PIN readers (UniFi Access G3)
- Electric strikes, mag locks, deadlatches and panic bars
- Exit buttons, door contacts and door-held alarms
- Parking gates and garage doors (UA-Hub-Gate)
- Hands-free fobs for parking
- Schedules, user groups and access reports
What clients in Saguenay ask us for
- On industrial sites we control staff doors, gates and restricted areas, often across several buildings linked wirelessly.
- For institutions we plan zones by role, fast lockdown of every door and clear reports.
- In rental buildings we replace common-door keys with cards or phones: a tenant who moves out means a deactivated card, not a new lock cylinder.
- In retail we control the back room, stockroom and delivery door, with a per-employee log.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work in Saguenay?
Saguenay is about 480 km from our office. We take on planned projects there: a remote preliminary survey (plans, photos), a site visit, then grouped installation. UniFi systems are then managed and supported remotely.
How much does access control cost in Saguenay?
Price mostly depends on the door (frame, lock, cabling). As a guide, the UniFi hardware for one door (hub, G3 reader, strike, exit button, cards) comes to about $763 at current altea.io prices, plus installation. The site visit in Saguenay and the quote are free.
Is there a per-door licence?
Not with UniFi Access: the software comes with the UniFi console. You pay for hardware and installation, with no mandatory subscription.
Can we keep our existing doors and locks?
Often, yes. We reuse frames and hardware in good condition and add an electric strike or mag lock. The site visit confirms it door by door.
What happens during a power or Internet outage?
Readers keep working on the local network. For each door we choose a safe fail mode (locked or unlocked) on power loss, and we can add backup power.
